The NGO Committee on the Status of Women Geneva (NGO CSW Geneva) welcomes qualifying new members.
The Committee’s members are Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations.
The purpose of the Association shall be to act as a strategic platform for non-governmental organizations, particularly women’s organizations, engaged with the United Nations in their advocacy and lobbying actions for the respect of States’ commitments and the maintenance of a global momentum for the defense of women’s rights and the promotion of gender equality.
Our member organizations support and work towards the goals and mission of our Committee. All actions and initiatives of the Committee shall be in line with all internationally agreed women- related principles and human rights instruments, including CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women), ICPD (International Conference on Population and Development), and the Beijing Platform for Action.
To apply for membership as a UN accredited NGO with ECOSOC, please download and complete the NGO CSW Geneva registration form (see below) and return to treasurer@ngocsw-geneva.ch. The Bureau admits new members and once approved for membership you will be required to make the annual membership payment.
Associate Membership
The Committee is also open to “Associate members”. Associate Members are organizations without ECOSOC consultative status or individuals interested in the activities of the Association. Associate Members shall have no voting rights.
Candidates should explain in writing why they are interested in becoming « associate members » and how they will contribute to the work and goals of the NGO CSW Geneva. Candidates should also note that our activities take place at the UN in Geneva and require a permanent UN grounds pass. In addition, any individual candidate should declare if she is affiliated with an NGO and give information on it. Such membership requests shall be be sent to treasurer@ngocsw-geneva.ch.

Membership Benefits
The NGO CSW Geneva brings NGO representatives together to share information, issue joint statements, coordinate NGO participation at various UN meetings and bring their expertise to jointly work on substantive issues. Members receive; notices of Committee meetings and events, invitations to special events and meetings organized by the UN or other NGOs, information on relevant UN news & reports, or on other NGOs’ research & activities.
Voting members are those individuals who represent a member organization in consultative status with the UN through ECOSOC. There is one vote per organization.
